Happy Wednesday! Some thoughts for this week:

  • I recently read this WorkLife article and realized I’d never written about this hack that I often share with clients: Try your best to avoid private DMs in Slack, especially if you’re a remote organization. When you default to asking questions (“How do I do this”, “Where can I find this”, “Why are we doing it this way”) in public channels, you supercharge your team’s learning, trust and transparency (and make it searchable for the future). Try it out, and let us know how it goes!

  • Are you interested in writing for Early Magazine? We’re putting out a call for pitches! We’re looking for (paid) stories about unusual, thoughtful workplaces or organizational structures, “diaries” style work stories about eye-catching jobs or work scenarios you’ve been in, and unique, specific how-to’s on creating great places to work. Send us your ideas! New writers are welcome.

  • We recently revamped our feedback workshop! This is a 3 hour session (with a break in the middle, don’t worry!) where we give your team the common language (and lots of hands-on practice) towards becoming an open, communicative, fast-learning culture that doesn’t hold on to hard feelings.
